Have you ever visited the home of your ancestor? Finding it is like discovering a forgotten world.
Often they are tucked away in the forest. Only an opening remains. Perhaps a pile of rocks is left from a fireplace.
And sometimes you find a cottage. The actual house where your ancestor was born, grew up and lived their life.
You get to peak into the window and open the door. What will you find?
Most of our ancestors lived hard lives. Illness was detrimental and scarcity was the norm. Even so, we can find traces of beauty. Like the roses growing in the ruins of a settlement, reminding us that there was room for more than survival.
The records are full of these traces. There are signs of families and friends pulling together and helping each other.
You can find them, if you want. The documents from births, moves, marriages, and much more.
You get to discover everything in the records. Where will you go?
This could be the start of getting to know your Swedish ancestor. It could be the start of your journey to Sweden.

You already have some experience with genealogy and want to work on your Swedish family history.

From Annika’s desk
Hej, I’m Annika. I’m a professional genealogist and the owner of Find a Swede. My goal is for you to find your Swedish roots.
You probably already know that there are no guarantees in family history. I can not promise that you will find your ancestor. But the records in Sweden are vast. Most of what you need is online.
I’m thrilled to open this new program. I’ve created Find a Swede so that you can get the most out of the records. It gives you structure, context and translations, so that you can get to know your ancestor.

Some examples are:
- Find a marriage record for a couple who are identified in other records.

- Translate and interpret one difficult to read hand written page.
- A summary of your research since your last session, with a handful of questions about interpretations and available sources.
You submit your questions on the website, along with any documents needed.
- Fill out the form.
- Add your files.
- Press Submit.
- Select a time slot in the calendar.
- Your research is delivered within five working days of your session.
What’s in your report
This is in each response:
- The reasoning and conclusions are described in detail.
- You get copies of all records used.
- The relevant parts of records are transcribed and translated.
Sometimes, this is in your report
Your report is adjusted to your question. At least one of your reports will have any of these:
- A custom map of the area you’re researching.
- Historical facts concerning your ancestor.
- Tips on sources and record collections.
- Help with a strategy for reaching your goal.
The account for requesting a session is set up manually. Your program starts after your account is set up.
- You have eight weeks to use your sessions.
- Access the account for one year after the end of the program.
- The guides are available at purchase.
What others are saying about Find a Swede
"In each session I got an exact and complete answer to my question. It was always clearly documented when an answer was given - and documented also which records were examined and found not to be productive. I was very pleased and impressed with this service."
